PAVEMENT MARKING SPECIFICATION
PART 1 GENERAL

1.03 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. Provide contractor grade acrylic striping paint for existing asphalt and concrete
pavements, new asphalt, coated asphalt, or restriping.

A. Product Data
1. Submit manufacturer's printed Product Data Sheets.
1.05 PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS
A. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Apply marking paint in dry weather when pavement and atmospheric temperatures are
fifty (50) degrees F. or above and are anticipated to remain above fifty (50) degrees F.
for four (4) hours after completing application.

2.01 MANUFACTURER
A. Neyra Industries, Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio: PermaLine, Marking Paint
1. Materials are listed as a standard of quality.
[ B. No substitutions allowed. ]
[ C. No other material will be acceptable unless approved by Architect/Engineer in
writing ten (10) days prior to bid date. ]
2.02 MATERIALS
A. Marking paint: PermaLine
1. High solids water based acrylic paint containing ultraviolet resistant pigments.
2. Colors: white, yellow, blue or as selected.
2.03 EQUIPMENT
A. Brush, roller, or airless spray.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Inspect existing pavement surfaces for conditions and defects that will adversely
affect quality of work, and which cannot be put into an acceptable condition through
normal preparatory work as specified.
B. Do not place marking over unsound pavements. If these conditions exist, notify
Architect/Engineer.
C. Starting installation constitutes contractor's acceptance of surface as suitable for
installation.
D. Verify that new asphalt is complete, has been accepted by Architect/Engineer, and
cured a minimum of fourteen (14) days.
3.02 PREPARATION
A. Provide qualified technician to supervise equipment and application of marking.
Layout marking using guide lines, templates and forms.
B. Thoroughly clean surfaces free of dirt, sand, gravel, oil and other foreign matter.
C. Protect adjacent curbs, walks, fences, and other items from receiving marking paint.
[ D. Verify that pavement coating has been accepted by Architect/Engineer and has cured
a minimum of twenty four (24) hours under good drying conditions.]
3.03 APPLICATION
A. Apply marking paint at a rate of one (1) gallon per one hundred fifty (150) square
feet by power spray, brush or roller. (One (1) gallon per four hundred fifty (450) lineal
feet of four (4) inch wide stripes.)
B. Apply stripes straight and even in accordance with schedules.
C. Apply stripes and other markings in widths and colors detailed in schedule.
3.04 CLEANING
A. Remove overspray, spills, or drips from surfaces other than those requiring marking
paint.
3.05 PROTECTION
A. Barricade marked areas until the marking paint is dried and ready for traffic.
1. Normally an area may be open to traffic in approximately six (6) hours of good
drying conditions.
